Update: Initially, washing these worked out great and they were super absorbant, but after a few months, they stopped absorbing anything but grease. They work great for oily spills. However, I believe the lack of absorbancy is because they won't release the grease after absorbing it. Absorbing grease basically renders them mostly useless. They only start to hold water after holding under running water for about 30 s of it just sliding off of the towels. I mostly just use them to wipe up grease or crumbs now.
Original review: Bought to get rid of buying paper towels every couple weeks. These are turning out to be great for that purpose. However, I was worried at first because right out of the package, they didn't absorb anything at all. I could wash my hands, grab a towel, and wipe and my hands would still be quite damp. I worked in a clothing store in the past, so I had the thought of maybe washing them would help? Post washing all of the towels and re-rolling, they are super absorbent! They also don't really hold stains easily, so long as you prewash in warm dishwater after use. I thought they would end up supplementing our paper towels, but now I'm thinking they might actually replace them altogether!
